Urea is a nitrogen fertilizer with a high content of active substance - 46%. The chemical formula of urea is similar in composition to the organic formulation of urea, which gives a number of advantages in mass use to nourish crops.
The interaction of the fertilizer with the soil medium is very different from that of ammonium nitrate. In the separation of the active substance from urea in order to reach the most accessible form for plants, nitrogen undergoes the three most important processes related to its capture and fixation. Some of the processes are purely chemical, others biological or physical.
After the urea enters the soil, it is subject to dissolution from soil moisture, then part of it goes through the nitrification process to produce nitrate anion (NO3-), which is available to the plant food. Another part of the product enters the microorganisms and nourishes their metabolic processes, after the death of these microorganisms an ammonia process takes place, followed by a nitrification process, in which the nutritional form of nitrogen is obtained.
This leads to a more even flow of processes in which urea releases its active substance in the soil to the plants gradually.
